In the Subway

في مترو الأنفاق

Liz : I am not sure which train we should take. This map is confusing , all of the tracks are crossing back and forth over each other.

ليز : لست متأكدة أي قطار يجب أن نستقله. هذه الخريطة تشوشني، كافة المسارات تتقاطع للأمام والخلف فوق بعضها .

Asha : It is ok, I understand it. I’m a little more used to the subway than you are. Plus I checked with cashier when I bought the ticket.

عائشة : لا بأس، أتفهم . أنا أكثر اعتيادا على مترو الأنفاق منك. بالإضافة إلى أنني تأكدت من أمين الصندوق عند شراء التذاكر .

Liz : I will follow your lead.

Asha : It’s a little complicated. We have to switch a few times.

Liz : I don’t like switching trains.

Asha : I know it can be a bit of a hassle but there are no direct lines.

Liz : Let’s do it then because this is the fastest way to get to our destination.

Liz : I thought you would need a ticket for each train.

Asha : when you are travelling underground you pay one ticket for any train in a zone.

Liz : Oh I see it now. The whole area is divided into zones.

Asha : That’s right so we can make as many connections as we need to within zone 3.

Liz : All with one ticket. That’s cool. I think I can get the hang of this. Tell me what we need to do.

Asha : We will catch the D train, get off at Piccadilly and then transfer to the F train to get to Stratford.

Liz : I am a little nervous as I never caught a train before.

Asha : Don’t worry I get the train often and it is quite safe. There is our train now let us get in. We will meet Sam and Mark at Stratford.

Liz : It is not so bad; I think maybe I watch too much television.

Asha : Time to get off now and we will transfer in about ten minutes.

Liz : Is that our train arriving now? There are so many persons waiting to get on, do you thing we will be able to get in?

Asha : As soon as it pulls in we need to move fast before the crowd gets here, hurry.

Liz : Whew! That was crazy. You really know your way around trains.

Asha : I am just use to it. Let us get a seat over there. We have about half an hour before we get off. That means we would have been travelling for one and a half hours.
