حملت الجندل والحديد وكل شيء ثقيل فلم أحمل شيئا هو أثقل من جار السوء، وذقت المرار فلم أذق شيئا هو أمر من الفقر

الخير يطفئ الشر كما يطفئ الماء النار.

Don't apologize too much, for lying is often mixed with excuses
إياك وكثرة الاعتذار، فإن الكذب كثيراً ما يُخالط المعاذير

Don't put your blessings except when his shepherd
لا تضع برك إلا عند راعيه

Beware of the generous if you insult him, the mean if you honor him, the frivolous if you joke with him, and the ignoble if you sleep with him.
إحذر الكريم إذا أهنته و اللئيم إذا أكرمته و الأرعن إذا مازحته و السافل إذا عاشرته

My son, when you fell from your mother's womb, you turned away from this world and received the Hereafter.
يا بني إنك لما سقطت من بطن أمك استدبرت الدنيا واستقبلت الآخرة، فأنت لما استقبلت أقرب لما استدبرت.

If the stomach is full, the idea sleeps and wisdom becomes silent.
إذا أمتلأت المعدة نامت الفكرة وخرست الحكمة.

Be rich be honest
كن غنياً تكن أميناً

Retire from your enemy, beware of your friend, and do not be exposed to what does not concern you.
اعتزل عدوك، واحذر صديقك، ولا تتعرض لما لا يعنيك.

Do not wish to befriend the ignorant, so that he sees that you are satisfied with his work, and do not underestimate the hatred of the wise, so that this may befall you.
لا ترغب في ود الجاهل فيرى أنك ترضى عمله، ولا تهاون بمقت الحكيم فيزهذه فيك.

Don't ask; it goes the water of modesty from the face
إيّاك والسؤال؛ فإنّه يذهب ماء الحياء من الوجه

Nothing is better than the tongue when it is good, and nothing is more insidious than it if it is malicious
لا شيء أطيب من اللسان إذا طاب، ولا أخبث منه إذا خبث

Don't ask; it goes the water of modesty from the face
إيّاك والسؤال؛ فإنّه يذهب ماء الحياء من الوجه

Lower people from your friend to the status of someone who has no need for you and you need him
أنزل الناس من صاحبك منزلة من لا حاجة له بك ولا بد لك منه

Be a slave to the good and do not be a friend of the wicked
كن عبداً للأخيار ولا تكن خليلاً للأشرار

The firmest of the resolute are those who know the matter before it happens, so beware of it

أحزم الحازمين من عرف الأمر قبل وقوعه فاحترس منه

My son: do not laugh without wonder, do not walk without politeness, and do not ask about what does not concern you
يا بني: لا تضحك من غير عجب، ولا تمشي في غير أدب، ولا تسأل عما لا يعنيك

Hearts are farms, so plant the good word in them. If you do not enjoy its fruits, you will enjoy its vegetables.
القلوب مزارع فازرع فيها الكلمة الطيبة فإن لم تتمتع بثمرها تتمتع بخضرها.

There is nothing better than the tongue and the heart if they are good, and nothing is more insidious than them if they are malicious
ليس من شيء أطيب من اللسان والقلب إذا طابا ولا أخبث منهما إذا خبثاً

Love is crazy, it can make the stupid see and turn the wise blind
الحب مجنون، فقد يجعل الغبي بصيراً ويحول الحكيم إلى أعمى
