Christine Gilbert, a former nurse at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, was found guilty of killing four veteran patients in the early 1990s, was persuaded to attempt to murder two other hospital patients and was under suspicion of the deaths of dozens more.

Defense attorneys claim Gilbert is innocent and that her patients have died of natural causes.

On March 14, 2001, a jury found Gilbert guilty of first-degree murder in three of the cases and second-degree murder in another case. She was also convicted of attempted murder of two other hospital patients and sentenced to life imprisonment and her appeal against the verdict was dropped in 2003. Gilbert is incarcerated in federal prison in Texas.
