An epidemic is a rapid and sudden spread of an infectious disease that affects the lives of humans and organisms within a short period of time, and affects the largest number of individuals at one time due to the presence of a means of transmission from patients to healthy people called infection.

Environmental factors are among the most important factors that lead to the occurrence of the epidemic, along with the genetic developments of the bacteria that cause the disease. The epidemic is spread through the migration of disease-carrying animals such as mosquitoes and birds, and contaminated drinking water, and the spread of epidemics increases the travel and movement of people carrying the infection without symptoms showing them.

Some epidemics occur in certain seasons such as influenza and colds, they occur in the winter period and the beginning of spring with the change of weather and are also considered diseases of the upper respiratory tract of seasonal diseases such as sore throat predominant in the winter.

Among the most famous global epidemics over time are plague disease, the Spanish flu, the cholera pandemic, swine flu, typhus, smallpox, measles, tuberculosis, leprosy, malaria and yellow fever, severe acute respiratory syndrome, and now the spread of corona viruses.

To prevent the spread of diseases and epidemics, care must be taken when any new disease appears and take preventive measures for ourselves, and maintain personal and public hygiene, and if the disease has spread and has become a contagious epidemic, quarantine must be adhered to, so all these instructions that the Prophet of Islam approved to deal with the spread of epidemics.
